Happy Forth, Praha Style

A Perfect Day:

Darling, adorable, precious, spunky Baxter Boone

My great friend from NC, who was studying abroad in Spain came to visit !! Love you Patrick

John Lennon Wall with my boy, Patrick!

To celebrate the Forth, we stopped in at a Praha Carnival. It was very interesting to say the least. ;)

Carnival/Fair in Praha.
To celebrate a lovely American holiday we decided to have a picnic in the beautiful park of Karlova Namesti, near our flat. We met up with some other people from our CEA study abroad group and brought Baxter, a dog I was babysitting for the week. It was perfection to the max! We all brought our own fixin's for lunch at a local potrivany (market). I had wine, cheese, sausage, crackers and fresh fruit....snickers for desert:)

After a bottle of wine and lunch, my friend Patrick, who was visiting from his study abroad experience in Spain, we ventured to Old Town to site see! It was so nice to have him back in my life, he is such a fantastic and hilarious person! Although we had not see one another in over two years, we caught up real quick and it was like we were never apart :)

Later on, we met up with the rest of our group: Amanda, Andrea, Breanna, Grace, Whitney, Sam and Jessica to go for a Carnival trek! The Carnival was literally in the middle of nowhere and had some real "class" to it. It was very run down and from a couple decades ago, but it was cheap, fun and a unique way to celebrate the Forth of July with some great people from the States!

Being abroad during a holiday such as the Forth, really makes me crave some American style in my life. Although USA is no perfect country, it is a great one and I am proud to be an American and come from such a fun-loving and happy nation. You can see that on a regular in Praha-people from the states are always smiling and enjoying life to the max!! USA

Furry Friend Visit

Yes, it is a great day today! Not only did I get to visit my favorite park in Praha but I recieved some news, my boss asked if I would mind watching her adorable pup for a week while she goes to London. Like that is a question! I said OF COURSE!! I cannot wait to have a dog back in my life-my roommates and I are soo thrilled, there will be walks and treats and snuggle fest with this little pup!

PSF involvement

Its a DREAM:

After a meeting this afternoon with the Prague Shakespeare Festival Company, I found out some very exciting news!

A dream of mine is about to come true, I will be working with the talented costume designer Tatiana, for Midsummer Nights Dreams as her assistant and will be helping with hair and makeup for the performance in the end of June.

Here are the RESULTS:
The stage at Letni Scenna na Vyšehradě

The start of the play begins at a formal dinner party for the wedding of Hippolyta and Theseus.

The beautiful sisters Irina and Tatiana, their mother did all the costumes for this play
The play within a play of Pyramus and Thisbe. (Probably my favorite part of the show!)

Beautiful and Fantastic Faries!!

Things I love about Prague:
The beautiful park that is only a 3min walk from my house.

There are dogs EVERYWHERE-Trams, Metros, pharmacy's, boutiques...and they are all so so cute!
Grocery Stores-there is a section for freshly made baked goods and breads-all ready for consumption at a cheap price

Today involved a lot of walking, I mean a lot! Our assignment today was to hang up posters throughout the city for the performances of Venus and Adonis and Richard III. With our camelback waterbottles and some running shoes were off. Most of our day consisted of us trying to explain to cafes, restaurants and bookstores that we were hanging up posters for the Fringe Festival. One of the most difficult trials I have been dealing with while in Prague is the language barrier. Czech language is very hard to learn and there isn't a program offered, such as the rosetta stone, that will help me overcome this barrier. However with using gestures, smiles and simple words, I was able to get the selected establishments to hang up our Prague Shakespeare Festival posters. Today was a success, while taking the Tram to one of the Fringe Festivals small plays called "I want to tell you something",  in a lovely cafe called Kavarna 3+1 (Plaska 10, Mala Strana, Praha 5) I saw some of our handy work.

The Prague Fringe Festival is a world renowned and annual burlesque, mix of theater, comedy, music and entertainment. The festival brings 100's of artists from around the world in 9 days, in 8 theaters

My internship:
For the next two months I will be working for an amazing theater company: Prague Shakespeare Festival. The creators and owners are Guy Roberts and Jessica Boone, two of the most talented, ambitious and creative beings I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. They are my bosses for the summer and I could not ask for a better team to work for.

The beautiful Jessica Boone

Guy Roberts as Richard III

Act I,II,III:
The PSF 2012 Season celebrates their 5th year of professional English-language Shakespeare in the Czech Republic. Their first play of the summer is an international collaboration from Houston, Texas: Richard III co-produced with Main Street Theater. After performances in Houston in April and May of 2012 the production (featuring PSF favorites Jessica Boone, Rutherford Cravens, Jared Doreck, Bob Boudreaux, Philip Hays, Jovan Jackson and Steve Zinkgraf among many other talented new PSF actors), will play Prague in June at Divadlo na Pradle. Those performances will be preceded at na Pradle by a special presentation of Venus and Adonis directed by Tom Bradac from Shakespeare Orange County playing during the 2012 Prague Fringe Festival. June will be a very busy month for PSF, the week after Richard III closes, we continue our annual tradition of Shakespeare Under the Stars at the Letni Scena of Vysehrad with the opening of a magical and captivating new production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream directed by Elena Araoz and designed by Justin Townsend.

My Job:
My job as the intern for the PSF is to run numerous errands to unique and unfamiliar locations in Prague. On my first day I had three errands that took me to three corners of the city and at every destination I would find out my next appointment, it was like THE AMAZING RACE: PSF INTERNSHIP. It was a lot of fun seeing the city and getting lost and then finding my way back. Thankfully I have a partner in crime with this internship from my CEA Global Studies Program, Jess. He and I are a team and are learning the city real well. I am so blessed to be given such an exciting and fast pace job! It involves us to think on our feet and use our street smarts to find every location and the transportation that will get us there. I hope to be in impeccable shape after this internship!

Zahrebska 37, Praha 2
Ahoj,
My two month internship in Prague has officially begun. I arrived to my apartment in Vinohrady district of Prague 2. Its a beautiful location to live, quiet and serene streets. And a beautiful square two blocks down on Zehrebska that has a lovely water fountain which is the center piece. Around the square are delicious restaurants and cafe. I am so thrilled to be spending my summer here and being able to see such an amazing city as a local rather than a tourist for these months. I already can tell that it will be difficult leaving this city when it comes to the beginning of August.

So I must live each day to the fullest. I can't wait to explore and discover the beautiful city of Prague.
